Fellowship Cup: Semifinals

Ok, we're down to the last two fights before the championship match. These two were pretty interesting fights, and both took place in Lothlorien Woods.
The first was between two dark and mysterious warriors, Batman and Spawn. The fight was hard to track for those watching, since both veteran fighters used their excellent stealth skills and the cover of all the trees to avoid detection the entire time. Batman had a slight speed advantage, and he sprang into action, relying on his keen intellect to formulate a plan as he worked. He quickly adapted and learned to use the trees like the towering buildings of Gotham, and was able to swing and grapple off of trees quickly and nearly silently. His first attack came when he threw several batarangs from a tree limb behind Spawn, but Spawn had been tracking Batman's trajectory, and he was able to easily shoulder-roll forward to avoid the shots. He then pulled out an assault rifle and raked the trees with a barrage of hot lead. Batman reflexively leapt towards another tree and shot his grapple gun at it, but a few of the bullets hit him in non-critical places, slowing him a bit. Batman landed a little shakily on another branch, but soon steadied himself enough to swing down at Spawn. The kick struck Spawn in the back, knocking him forward. Spawn sprang up from the golden leaves on the forest floor, however, and hit Batman in the face with a heavy punch. The fight went on for a long time, with Spawn clearly having a strength advantage over Batman. Batman was getting progressively weaker, but was still conscious enough to steadily dodge most of the attacks. After too much of the fight, Sudden Death was declared, in which the next hit landed declares the winner. Both combatants threw themselves at each other, but Batman thought fast and landed a quick punch to the ribs. This one was over.

Batman vs. Spawn= Batman


The second of the fights was not nearly as evenly matched, featuring the cosmically powered Silver Surfer against Batman's protege Nightwing. Batman had trained his pupil well, and Nightwing was able to use a similar technique and rely on the trees for cover and stealth, but the Surfer was able to easily dart around the forest on his board and shoot energy blasts in Nightwing's wake. The young man was fairly able to keep his head under pressure, but he was clearly outmatched. He kept moving and dodging while trying to think, but the Surfer landed just too many blasts that knocked the man senseless. The intergalactic guardian was not a cold conqueror, however, and saw to his opponent's wounds before returning to the cold void of space to await his master's summons.

Silver Surfer vs. Nightwing= Silver Surfer

Ok, only one more! It looks light Batman will have to use all his wits in the upcoming battle with the Silver Surfer. Also, Spawn has been awarded third place in the tournament for landing the most damage on his opponent before falling. Congratulations.

Fellowship Cup: Boss Preview

So, the tournament is almost over, but while we're waiting for the last few fights, may as well show you the boss of this tournament. Didn't know there was a boss? Well, it's true. As of just now.
For those who dominate and still wish to attempt to gain points in the tournament, several top fighters may team up to fight this new boss. Obviously, for the Fellowship Cup, the natural choice is

Fellowship Cup: Round Three

Hooray for carnage and mayhem! Long live chaos and war!
Yes, friends, this vicious sequence of death duels continues as we quickly eliminate 4 of the 8 players left. These battles were waged at the Bridge of Khazad Dum in Moria, a limited fighting space to be sure, and balance was key for non-flyers.

First to go were Batman and the Human Torch. The Torch began with his usual and somewhat questionable catchphrase "Flame on!" and ignited himself completely, takeng off to the roof of the cavern. He then dove steeply at Batman, throwing several small bursts of flame at him. One falling ember did manage to burn his arm, but Batman recovered quickly enough to shoot a line at the Torch's legs, catching him in mid-flight and turning his direction into the wall, which was stunning. The Torch fell to the ground, but climbed up semi-quickly and burned the rope from his legs. He then extended both hands towards Batman, who was standing on the bridge, and threw a large fireball at him. This move had worked before, but Batman quickly anchored a batrope to the stone bridge and threw himself over the edge, as the ball of heat flew past his head. He continued his swing under the bridge, popping up on the other side and landing in a crouch. He then leapt forward into a handspring in which the end of the arc found both his feet hitting the Torch's jaw. Before he could recover, Batman jumped on to his body and punched him in the face repeatedly until the Fantastic Four member was unconscious. He then radioed Alfred to send the Batmobile his way. Bruce Wayne had a date at the opera tonight.

Batman vs. Human Torch= Batman


The Dark Knight's legacy continued in the next fight, as the young Nightwing followed in his footsteps in an attempt to end the winning streak of the deadly Boba Fett. Unbeknownest to the rest, Fett had smuggled a spycam into the last fight, and had seen a flyer's difficulty against one of Gotham's finest. He then concluded it better to avoid extensive use of his jetpack. Instead he pulled out his famous blaster rifle to fire a beginning shot, but jerked to a stop when he could not spot Nightwing. While inching forward onto the bridge, he kept an eye on his helmet scanners for signs of heat in the shadows. For one of the first times in recent history, Fett was surprised by an attack from behind. Dick Grayson had silently dropped behind him, after which he followed through with a behind neck grab that toppled the bounty hunter off balance and hurled him into the abyss. His reaction time had not diminished, however, and he quickly ignited his jetpack and hurled himself past Nightwing and up into the air, from where he launched his famous rocket at the bridge. Nightwing was already gone, however, and before he could look around, Fett felt a rope around his ankle, and was quickly towed to the ground. In his new vulnerable position, it was not hard to finish the fight. Nightwing had to leave the unconscious man to the officials, however, since Killer Croc was on the loose again in Gotham that night. Criminals have no respect for organizations such as this.

Nightwing vs. Boba Fett= Nightwing


So I, um, hate to break the glorious mood here and all, but I thought it was about time to be straight with yto all. There was simply a menace to our tournament, and he had to be stopped. One competitor stood far above the rest as an embarrassment and a joke. One was here that defeated those who far less deserved it, and used goofy mannerisms and a costume to carry on this attitude totally lacking in seriousness. This man is The Tick. Now, I would like to say that he was defeated, his foolish reign was ended, and that the nobler characters could continue. Actually, I think I will. He was defeated, his foolish reign was ended, and the nobler characters can continue. Wow, I really had you there.
So anyway, the dark and mysterious Spawn was up to challenge the Tick, and he kinda wiped the floor with him. The big goofy bug did land a few hits, but Spawn coolly regenerated the lost health and responded with gunfire or his massive chain. The Tick was mostly oblivious to the injuries he was taking, but I'm sure he got the point when Spawn whipped out a gun as big as him and blasted the oaf off the bridge and into the pit. Congratulations, Spawn, you did what many fine men could not. We're all just hoping we don't see an appearance of The Tick the White. Long live sanity.

The Tick vs. Spawn= Spawn


I think I usually say this, but the last fight of this round was pure power. The intergalactic travelers Silver Surfer and Green Lantern finally met at this thin bridge to settle this anticipated fight. Neither person touched the bridge, however. They destroyed it. Both characters were extremely fast, and as they both flew in long orbits around the huge cavern, shooting at each other with high energy blasts. The columns holding thee long stone staircases fell, and large boulders broke out of the wall, all because of the intensity of the fight. After a lot of flying, both combatants began to catch on to the other's style, and more and more hits began to be landed. The Lantern was able to create energy shields to deflect the bright blue lances, and the Surfer's tough body stopped a lot of hits, but both people began to tire. At one point, as he swiveled around on his board to launch an attack, Surfer left himself open to a giant green fist from the powerful ring. Green Lantern broke the record for the strongest attack so far, and it sent the Surfer spinning. He got back, however, and blasted the Lantern over and over until he collapsed from exhaustion and dropped his shields. Silver Surfer respected his foe, however, and caught him from falling, then laying him on the ground. He then flew off to await his summons for the next match.
